| Breaking News | | Saturday, August 30th, 2008: Davis Holds Wilmington Scoreless Before the game Wade Davis liked his chances and his instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing the Nationals pitcher whitewashed the Wilmington Blue Rocks 4-0.
Davis said in the clubhouse afterward, "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day. My control was awesome. I could throw my curveball even when I was behind in the count."
The Potomac starter held Wilmington scoreless, giving up 1 hit while registering 11 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," the Blue Rocks manager said in his postgame interview.
"When that happens, you usually lose."
This season Davis has gone 4-4 with an ERA of 2.07, posting 70 strikeouts in 69.2 innings. | | Monday, July 21st, 2008: Big Day for Sakamoto: Swats 5 Hits The Hillcats were defeated 13-6 today at Ballpark of Lynchburg by the Blue Rocks, but you can't say Kent Sakamoto didn't give it his best try. The Hillcats first baseman came to the plate 5 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Sakamoto and a tough day for Lynchburg.
"I just go up there and swing away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."
No plan or not, Sakamoto delivered today... 5-5 is outstanding in any league.
K. Sakamoto doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 9th.
This year Sakamoto is hitting .283 with 56 hits, 2 home runs, 17 RBIs and has scored 20 runs. | | Saturday, May 31st, 2008: | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 59-81, .421 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 26.0 GB | | Record at home | 28-42, .400 PCT | | Record on the road | 31-39, .443 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 7-6, .538 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 15-20, .429 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 9-18, .333 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 50-63, .442 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 2-8, .200 PCT | | Record in April | 14-12, .538 PCT | | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in June | 9-17, .346 PCT | | Record in July | 12-16, .429 PCT | | Record in August | 7-23, .233 PCT | | Record in September | 1-0, 1.000 PCT |
