Saturday, September 6th, 2008: Cruz Rips Myrtle Beach for 5 Hits
There are moments in a player's career that they will not soon forget. Luis Cruz of the Hillcats had one of those moments when he went 5 for 8 at the plate today, but he couldn't pull out the victory. Despite his hitting heroics, Lynchburg fell in defeat 10-8 to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Ballpark of Lynchburg.

The 24-year-old second baseman told reporters in the postgame interview, "This was quite a day for me individually, but a little disheartening at the same time. It would have been very special, if we had won the game."

L. Cruz flied out in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 9th, struck out in the 10th, struck out in the 13th, hit an RBI single in the 15th and hit a solo-shot off N. Fellman in the 17th.

Cruz is hitting .230 this season with 5 home runs, 32 RBIs and 52 runs scored. He has 95 hits in 413 at-bats.
