Lynchburg prevailed over Myrtle Beach today with a 4-3 victory at Ballpark of Lynchburg. It was the Hillcats 1st time claiming the title.
They compiled a 76-64 regular season record and finished in the second spot in the Northern Division pennant chase. |  | Saturday, September 6th, 2008: Cruz Rips Myrtle Beach for 5 Hits There are moments in a player's career that they will not soon forget. Luis Cruz of the Hillcats had one of those moments when he went 5 for 8 at the plate today, but he couldn't pull out the victory. Despite his hitting heroics, Lynchburg fell in defeat 10-8 to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Ballpark of Lynchburg.
The 24-year-old second baseman told reporters in the postgame interview, "This was quite a day for me individually, but a little disheartening at the same time. It would have been very special, if we had won the game."
L. Cruz flied out in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 9th, struck out in the 10th, struck out in the 13th, hit an RBI single in the 15th and hit a solo-shot off N. Fellman in the 17th.
